I believe it is difficult to really formulate new forms of new media due to the fact new media essentially just forms from the evolution of prior forms. However, I do believe there will be a rise in ideas within new media. As technology has progressed, the general public has stressed the significance of security and protection. Furthermore, ideas such as Bitcoin garnered popularity within the past two years or so due to the idea of security and protection with your transactions as compared to current forms of currency. Thus, I believe this factor will implement itself with the idea of new media specifically social media because the aspect of protection of information and such on social media is prominent. I believe there will be a rise in some form of anonymous social media where it would prevent the actions of information stealing and such. Wiki So Far

So far I have been contributing to parts of the Wiki that I am interested in. I am interested in Fashion brands and thus I have contributed to the Fashion pages as I saw it didn't include many popular brands today such as sportswear brands like Nike or Adidas. Thus, I created a sub page for the Nike and Adidas. Additionally, I am into music and one of my favorite artists is Kanye West. I also saw there wasn't a page for him in the Music page and thus created one. Also, Kanye had worked with Adidas which is pretty significant today for Adidas and so I also linked his page in the Adidas portion. Overall, I have contributed to pages that I am interested in and topics I like such as fashion and music. I will intend to also continue contributing more into these pages as well as branch out to other pages such as Finance, as I am majoring in it.

File sharing is allowing the distribution and sharing of digital media such as documents, programs, books, music, etc. P2P file sharing is essentially platforms that allow file sharing directly from one person to another. This can be websites that you essentially find files on, such as music downloading websites where you obtain music files that other people have downloaded onto the platform. Such examples of P2P file sharing can be programs such as LimeWire or torrent websites such as BearShare. Anyone is able to download files onto the program and allow anyone else to essentially obtain such files. Privacy seems to be a significant factor that is consistently spoken about these days. This is due to the ever-changing environment of technology and media. As technology gets more advanced, it becomes much more complex and smarter to obtain information as drastic speeds. This causes issues to the privacy of people because there seems to be less and less protection involved with withstanding these changing technologies.  Additionally, new media thrives off the acquirement of data especially in a world where there are advertisements practically everywhere to constantly drive revenue of businesses for the economy. This was seen with the issues with Facebook in recent times and other issues arising from things such as credit card information.  Ultimately, as technology continues to advance, the factor of security seems to be decreasing and becoming less prominent.

In order to implement new media with Baruch, I think there would be drastic changes made. I believe in my opinion, a lot of the Baruch processes are actually quite slow. For example, I think the usage of Twitter can be greatly significant. Currently, Baruch tends to text your personal phone for small updates in terms of your course enrollment and such. However, I think this can be used to a deeper level to update students on a day to day basis for practically everything. I believe there should be a Twitter page of some sort for every department to update several things. I say Twitter because I believe it is the application that can bring the quickest updates to the public efficiently. Thus, in terms of cancelled classes and such, this can be tweeted by each respective department. Other updates can be something like the elevators breaking down which can all be updated through the regular Baruch twitter page, basically how MTA updates statuses through Twitter. I had always said New Media fosters creativity through the usage of social media due to the fact I believe we are in a time of information sharing. Information can be anything from writings, photos, videos, etc. As social media sites and apps such as Instagram and Snapchat become prominent applications in the everyday lives of individuals, these applications are coming up with new ways for users to get creative. In this example, I look to Snapchat. Snapchat is supposed to be essentially your personal blog or journal through the use of photos. Users can share anything they take a picture of or screenshot to your friends to see. For Snapchat to be even more personal, they have created the use of Bitmoji which is basically just your avatar that you can customize. They even have a map that allows you to see your friends bitmoji and location (If on).

HW Creativity

New Media fosters creativity now along with the transcending nature of social media. Information spreads at drastic speed and thus any individual is able to share their creations instantly to the world. For example, characters from shows or movies used to simply just be characters, however, new media allows the manipulation of this notion by allowing the creation of new forms of art using them. This was shown in the New York Times article about the creation of mashups using Disney characters. Disney usually has a strict policy in their copyrighted material, yet, these mashup videos posted on Youtube hasn't been removed yet. What I assume is the intention of Disney is that they simply see this as content creation from their characters in a positive light. It is supposed to be a funny video and it is basically advertising Disney indirectly as well for free.
